\u201cJust because something needs to be highly functional, doesn’t mean it can\u2019t be beautiful,\u201d says Tiffiny Hodgson, Director at Halliday + Baillie.<\/p>\r\n
Halliday + Baillie have recently contributed hardware to the first purpose-built complex for the charity, HomeGround designed by Stevens Lawson Architects<\/a> which offers respite for people who are homeless, provides health services, therapy and activities such as art classes. It is also home to 80 apartments for longer term accommodation.<\/p>\r\n \u201cFor decades, Auckland City Mission had been squashed into buildings that weren\u2019t really fit for purpose and weren’t ever designed with their needs in mind. HomeGround flips that completely around \u2013 it\u2019s a building that has been designed for them,\u201d says Tiffiny. \u201cIt\u2019s a project that was certainly long overdue and a wonderful way that we could help and give back to the community.\u201d<\/p>\r\n The hardware in the community spaces of the thriving central city hub were\u00a0Halliday + Baillie\u2019s contribution \u2013 its\u00a0stair rail brackets<\/a>, flush pulls<\/a> and pull handles<\/a> were used on every floor of the building. These shared spaces, such as the laneway that the public can use to access the building, have high traffic and are used 24\/7 \u2013 demanding quality hardware.
